mend可以用作动词

mend的基本意思是“修理〔补〕”,常指使由于穿用而破碎的、撕裂的、破损的衣服、鞋、帽等具体物品重新完整或坚固起来,含有不需要高超的技艺或特殊的设备的意味。用于抽象事物可表示“恢复”“康复”“改〔纠〕正”“改善〔进〕”等,这时不强调手段,而强调结果。

mend既可用作不及物动词,也可用作及物动词。用作及物动词时,多表示“修理”“修补”,接名词或代词作宾语; 用作不及物动词时,常表示“好转,恢复”,还可用于生物体受伤部位自动接合或愈合。

mend可用于被动结构。

1、mend/repair

repair 指将受损、故障、用旧之物修理好，如用于修补机械方面的东西多用repair。如：

Ask him to repair my watch/TV set. 请他给我修一下手表/电视机。

repair 还可作“弥补、补偿”讲。如：
